In this itinerary, starting from Bangkok - the capital of Thailand and exploring the beautiful beaches of Southern Thailand is Phuket and Koh Phi Phi. Let’s get started!

What to see & do in 10 days itinerary in Thailand

Bangkok

Bangkok

As the capital of Thailand, Bangkok is a city of contrasts, where ancient temples stand in harmony with gleaming skyscrapers, and traditional markets coexist with upscale shopping malls.

When visiting Thailand for 10 days, it is best to arrive in Bangkok.

You should visit some places which are must-see attractions.

  • Grand Palace: The Grand Palace (Royal Palace) - Bangkok’s most famous tourist attraction, should be your first stop. If your hotel is nearby, you can walk there. Otherwise, take a taxi because there is no nearby metro station.

During your visit, you shouldn’t miss:

  • The Emerald Buddha statue in the Royal Chapel
  • Chakri Maha Prasat palace, where King Rama V lived. He is still revered today for contributing greatly to the country’s economic rise in the 19th century.

And then, it takes about 5 minutes from Grand Palace to Wat Pho

  • Wat Pho: Visiting Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is a must for travelers to Bangkok. This historic and stunning temple complex is famous for its giant reclining Buddha statue.

It takes 5 minutes to walk from the Grand Palace.

The entrance cost is 200 Baht.

  • China Town: one of the oldest and most bustling areas in the city, renowned for its bustling markets, vibrant street life, and delectable culinary delights.
  • Lumpini Park: located in the heart of Bangkok, is a tranquil oasis amidst the bustling urban landscape.
  • The Siam district: for shopping in one of the huge, ultra-modern shopping centers.

To the end the day, you should to go to Khao San Road. If you like the hustle and bustle, Khao San Road is for you. Coming to Khao San road, you will be immersed in the vibrant and bustling atmosphere, where there are many bars, with most foreign tourists.

His surroundings:

  • Jim Thompson house, in the heart of Bangkok’s city center: start by learning the story of the American businessman and traveler, who made it his life’s work to bring Thai silks to the world’s fashion houses, and then explore his remarkable home. This is one of the best places in Bangkok to see traditional Thai teak homes, as Thompson assembled his using historic houses shipped to Bangkok from around the country. Find out what is known — and what remains a mystery — about Thompson’s 1967 disappearance in the Malaysian jungle, then explore the collection of art that he assembled during 25 years in Thailand.
  • Maeklong railway market, taking photo, and enjoying the local snack in the market before driving to Damnoen Saduak - a rural floating market. Stop for a motor boat trip along the waterway to the picturesque floating market of Damnoen Saduak.
  • The World War II memorial includes the Jeath War Museum, Cemetery. We will take 30 minutes train to experience and enjoy the beautiful view from the train along the river. This is one of Southeast Asia's historic railways, the remaining part of the "Death Railway", departing from the provincial capital to the Railway Station from Tonburi (or Namtok). and transfer then city to visit Kwai bridge.

On the UNESCO World Heritage list, it is packed with Buddhist temples, ancient statues, and monasteries. There are 6 main temples:

  • Visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the largest and most significant temple in Ayutthaya, known for its three iconic chedis (stupas) and impressive Buddha images.
  • Discover Wat Mahathat, famous for the Buddha head encased in tree roots—a popular photo spot for visitors.
  • Explore Wat Ratchaburana, known for its impressive prang (Khmer-style tower) and ancient murals.
  • Visit Wat Phra Ram, a serene temple with a beautiful lake nearby, providing picturesque views.
  • Wat Maheyong is located outside the historical park, towards the floating market. Unfortunately, there isn’t much left of it, which perhaps explains why it is not flocked by tourists. If you have taken the Pass and you have a little time to spare, you can always go and have a look.
  • Wat Chai Watthanaram’s construction began in the 17th century and lasted for almost 20 years. This Khmer-style temple located on the river banks features a large central prang, about 35 meters tall, surrounded by several smaller chedis.

Chiang Mai

Visit Chiang Mai, you can explore some places:

  • Chiang Mai Old Town: visit most of the main temples, street markets and museums. There are also several bars and restaurants
  • Doi Suthep-Pui National Park: Hike or drive up Doi Suthep Mountain to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and enjoy panoramic views of Chiang Mai.
  • Wander around the historic Old City area, with its ancient city walls and moat, and discover hidden temples and charming cafes.

  • Bua Thong Sticky Waterfalls: Take a trip to the Bua Thong Sticky Waterfalls, known for their limestone formations that allow you to walk up the falls with ease.

  • Black House (Baan Dam Museum): Baan Dam Museum, created by the late artist Thawan Duchanee, is a unique collection of buildings showcasing his eclectic art pieces and collections inspired by death and darkness.
  • Visit the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. It's a historically significant area known for its opium trade past and scenic views of the Mekong River.

  • Patong Beach: the longest and busiest beach and known for its lively atmosphere. Patong Beach is separated from the main road by a row of coconut, palm, and tropical almond trees.
  • You should go to Karon Beach. It is quieter and more family-friendly. If Patong is a bustling beach suitable for fun activities, Karon is a space reserved for families. Some interesting experiences in Karon are conquering Karon Viewpoint, visiting Karon Circle.
  • Discover Phuket Town and its surroundings. Walking around town will also be a chance for you to visit both Thai temples and colorful Chinese shrines, a couple of Museums and some beautiful old mansions. The city center and the famous Thalang Road are the most exciting part of Phuket Town, but there are many other streets to explore as well.
  • Explore the scenic Phang Nga Bay, known for its limestone cliffs, emerald waters, and famous James Bond Island (Koh Tapu).
  • Discover Wat Chalong, one of Phuket's most important Buddhist temples, with its beautiful architecture and religious significance.

  • Visit Railay Beach, a stunning beach accessible only by boat, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs. It's a paradise for rock climbing and offers beautiful viewpoints.
  • Take a boat trip to the Phi Phi Islands, a group of islands known for their crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and breathtaking scenery.
  • Climb the 1,237 steps to the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua) to witness panoramic views of Krabi and its surrounding countryside.
  • Visit the Emerald Poo (Sa Morakot), a natural hot spring surrounded by lush forest, perfect for a relaxing dip.
  • Enjoy a soak in the natural hot springs at Klong Thom, believed to have therapeutic properties.

  • Explore the underwater world surrounding Phi Phi Islands through snorkeling or diving. The coral reefs are teeming with colorful marine life.
  • Visit Monkey Beach, a small bay on Phi Phi Don where you can observe and interact with playful wild monkeys.
  • Explore the small main village on Phi Phi Don, where you can find shops, restaurants, and places to rent equipment for water sports.
  • Visit Bamboo Island or Mosquito Island

Bamboo Island, a tropical island paradise with soft white sand and plenty of bamboo trees, is only 5 km from Koh Phi Phi Don. If you want to camp overnight and watch the sunrise in the morning, you can rent tents here.

Mosquito Island is just 3km of the northern tip of Koh Phi Phi Island. Mosquito Island is named because there are a lot of mosquitoes during the day, but it is still a place for tourists who like to snorkel during the day.

  • Loh Dalum Beach: Loh Dalum Beach is one of the most stunning beaches on Koh Phi Phi Don, and it is conveniently located in the island's center.

Koh Lanta
