• Get up-close to the Maeklong Railway Market also known as “life-risking” market where exciting and magical scene happens, vendors disappear in a blink of an eye at each train whistle signaling the arrival of a train
• Learn the idea of a traditional market setting at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, the best known floating market of Thailand which is featured in the James Bond movie and more recently “Bangkok dangerous” with Nicolas Cage. Watch the bustling activity on the crowded canals where boats loaded with, fresh exotic tropical fruits and Thai’s noodles, are packed up

In the evening, transfer to Bangkok station to take the overnight train to Chiang Mai (in 2nd class)

Arrive very early in the morning at Chiang Mai station. Meet and greet with a private car and transfer to the hotel

Chiang Mai - Trekking to Karen Village

Depart one hour north of Chiang Mai to Mokfa Waterfall

Upon arrival, enjoy an hour of swimming and sunbathing at MorkFa Waterfall. Afterwards, head to Pong Duead Hot Spring

Have lunch and enjoy a dip in Pong Duead Hot Spring

In the afternoon, trek through the jungle towards the Karen village (approximately 3 hours). At the end of the day, enjoy a home-cooked meal, a campfire and spend the night with a Karen family

Chiang Mai - Discover the Lahu tribe village

The Lahu people are divided into several subgroups, the most iconic of which are the Black Lahu, Yellow Lahu and Shehleh Lahu, named after the color of their traditional clothing

Have breakfast at the homestay. Embark on a 1.5-hour trek through the jungle to the river, followed by a 30-minute bamboo rafting trip to the elephant camp

Upon arrival at the elephant camp, spend time with the elephants, feeding and bathing them, and taking souvenir photos (No elephant riding allowed)

Continue bamboo rafting down the river to the Lahu tribe village. Visit the Lahu tribe village

Have lunch at the village. Then, embark on a 2-hour bamboo rafting trip with an access point to the Shan village

At the end of the day, return to Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai - Cooking Class - Mae Ping River Cruise

Discover Thai cuisine with a cooking class where you will learn to prepare delicious Thai dishes

In the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour boat trip along the Mae Ping River. This is a great way to spend the afternoon. You will be able to observe the landscape along the river, including numerous traditional teak houses and lush greenery along the banks

Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai - Chiang Saen: 300 km - 4h30

After breakfast, depart to Chiang Saen. On the way, visit the White Temple, Wat Rong Khun. Although quite recent, this temple is the most visited monument in the region, a work of the Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, begun in 1997

Take a drive to the “land of brightly coloured poppy fields” – the infamous Golden Triangle, a strategic point from which you will contemplate a unique landscape, shared between Thailand, Burma, and Laos. This is where the three borders meet

• Stroll through Chiang Saen, the ancient city located on the Khong River Bank
• Visit the Opium museum where you will learn about the Thai opium’s history from a guide and with an exposition
• Have lunch at a local restaurant in the Golden Triangle
• Cruise along the Mekong river to witness the lively assembling of 3 countries at the Golden Triangle

Chiang Saen - Chiang Rai: 85 km - 1h30

Transfer to Chiang Rai by private car. Take a drive to the Mae Salong. Stroll through villages of ethnic minorities: the village Akah of Loyo, and the village Lisu of Ban Hanygo

Chiang Rai, a delightful city with its relaxed atmosphere and stunning local food:

• Discover the local products in the local market
• World famous Wat Phra Kaew where the Emerald Buddha image was once enshrined
• Wat Phra Sing where one of Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha images is now enshrined
• Baan Dam (Blackhouse), the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee: part art studio, part museum, part home, Baan Dam is an eclectic mix of traditional northern Thai buildings interspersed with some outlandish modern designs
