  • Luang Prabang is a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site

    Uncover the ancient religious capital of Laos, and be surprised by its serenity and spirituality by tuk tuk:

    • Experience unforgettable moments by attending the procession of barefoot monks, who silently collect alms, dressed in their saffron robes, as they walk the streets of the city to collect their food
    • Marvel at the Wat Xieng Thong, is the center of a small religious complex, considered the most beautiful Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang because of its elegant roof down to the bunk ground and the temple of Wat Visoun, the oldest temple in Luang Prabang, it houses numerous gold statues of Buddha
    • Meander through the That Makmo, stone stupa and Vat Aham, a major shrines in the city dedicated to the ancestors of Laos
    • Explore the National Museum (former Royal Palace) which displays a collection of personal artifacts of the royal family and the temple of Wat Mai, Buddhist temple, the largest and most richly decorated temples of Luang Prabang was the residence of a Buddhist patriarch before 1975
    • Stroll into the market before Darat to climb Mount Phousi where you will discover a panoramic view of the ancient royal capital and the Mekong River at sunset
    • Then, cross the Mekong River by boat to the picturesque village of Ban Chan, a pottery village
    • Visit Vat Xieng Mene, and then follow village paths and rocky trails along the Mekong towards Vat Chom Phet. Climb the stairs to this unique temple, once used as a retreat by the king to escape court pressures

    A journey to meet the northern minorities and timeless villages

    Home to 23 ethnic minorities such as the Lue, Black Thai, Thai, and Hmong, this mountainous environment reflects a wild and untamed nature

    Stop and take a walk through ethnic villages like Ban NaTeui, Namor, and Ban Tawan, inhabited by the Laos Houei, Yao Mien, Lanten, and Hmong peoples

    Discover traditional homes where weaving, an activity developed by the women, is still practiced on old wooden looms

    Late afternoon, enjoy some free time in Oudomxay, the capital of the province

    A 1.5 km trek will lead you to the beautiful Huay Soum Waterfall

    Next, you will pass through part of the jungle

    The trek continues along the Namkat River, crossing 13 suspension bridges and experiencing 9 ziplines before returning to the parking area where your car will be waiting to take you back to the hotel

  • Oudomxay - Muang La: 50 km - 1h30

    Depart to Muang La. The region is populated by ethnic groups and see their homes along the route

    From there, you will follow the river (by car or on foot) to the Nam Phak River, where your trek begins

    Along the way, you’ll pass through beautiful landscapes of rice fields and mountainous scenery. The farming activities will give you insight into traditional working methods, and you'll also see local fishing practices

    Around 9 a.m., the trek will begin along a small path towards a village

    Nature will continue to impress with small rivers and a wide variety of plants. After visiting the village, the trek continues down into the valley, towards the Houay Khai waterfall, and then into the dense forest

    The day will be filled with discovering the untouched wilderness, observing agricultural work, and meeting local villagers on their farms

    Return to the village, then a private car transfer to Muang La

    • Depart to Muang Khua by private car in about 2h
    • Then, take a wooden boat
    • Begin the Cruise down the Nam Ou River

    • Observe the rural life at a village along the way
    • Take a short walk and enjoy lunch in fields
    • Watch a demonstration of Kataw
    • Continue the cruise until reaching Muang Ngoi

  • Muong Ngoi - Boat - Nong Khiaw: 1h

    Day Trek in Ban Na and Ban Tham Kang:

    • This gentle trek offers stunning mountain panoramas around Muang Ngoi as well as beautiful stretches of rice fields
    • On an easy walk, cross small streams, explore caves, and discover small hamlets, all in the heart of well-preserved nature and tropical forest around Muang Ngoi
    • Meeting at 9:00 am and starting the trek for 30 minutes to visit Tham Kang, an ancient cave that sheltered villagers during the Indochina War (1960-1972). The cave remains untouched in a beautiful setting
    • After visiting the cave, the trek continues towards Ban Houay Sene (a Khmu and T'ai Deng ethnic village)
    • The trek proceeds to Ban Na (a village of the T'ai Deng ethnic group)

    From Muang Ngoi, board a boat for a 1-hour cruise to Nong Khiaw

    Nong Khiaw is a small town that has rapidly developed in recent years, becoming a hub for tourists traveling between Luang Prabang and the northwestern cities of the country

  • Nong Khiaw - Luang Prabang : 140 km - 3h

    Half-Day Trek from Nong Khiaw to the Summit of the Town's Second-Highest Mountain

    This short but adventurous trail guides you through the jungle and high-altitude ancient forests surrounding the town

    The steep section of the hike is challenging, but the panoramic view of Nong Khiaw makes it all worthwhile. Known for its stunning mountain jungle scenery, Nong Khiaw offers a rewarding trek either early in the morning or late in the afternoon for the best views, depending on the season or weather. The path can be slippery during the rainy season

    08:30: Begin the short but steep hike to the second-highest viewpoint overlooking Nong Khiaw. We'll ascend approximately 400 meters on a 1.8 km trail. The adventurous path takes us through the jungle and surrounding high-altitude ancient forests

    On a clear day, you can see up to 20 km across the mountains to the north in the Muang Ngoi region

    The total duration of the trek is 4 hours, with about 1.5 hours of climbing, a break at the summit for a snack, and 1.5 hours of descent

    Return to Luang Prabang. On the way, time permitting, stop at the village of Ban Xang Hai, known for its traditional rice alcohol distillation

  • Luang Prabang – Nam Khane – Henri Mouhot's Tomb

    Depart for the last village accessible by road, located along the Nam Khane River, a tributary of the Mekong, in Ban Xiang Ngeun

    Board traditional pirogues on the Nam Khane River and travel to a significant Khamou village. Several villages line the riverbanks, with lively activity: pirogues head to neighboring villages, buffaloes cool off, women chat while doing laundry, men fish, and children play

    Continue downstream along the Nam Khane River until you reach the tomb of Henri Mouhot. This young explorer from France set out in 1858 to explore the banks of the Mekong. He rediscovered Angkor, which he was the first to introduce to the world, before dying of exhaustion in Luang Prabang in 1861 at just 33 years old

  • Luang Prabang - Xiengkhuang - The Plain of Jars: 300 km - 6h

    6 hours drive before returning to the province of Xiengkhuang. This region is known to have been heavily bombed in 1970 by the armed forces of United States forces against the Pathet Lao

    Even today, many lands are still contaminated with unexploded bombs

    Visit the Plain of Jars on the plateau 10 kms from Phonsavan (Site 1)

    Jars carved from sandstone blocks, with hundreds of 1 to 3 m high, weighing up to 6 tons, still unknown functions origles

    Visit villages of ethnic Hmong and Thai Phuan Dam

    • In the morning, visit the local market of Phonsavan
    • Then, road to the ancient capital of the province of Muang Khoun, home to the Hmong and Thai Dam tribes
    • Continue to visit sites 2 and 3 of the Plain of Jars, where some of the most picturesque views can be admired

    The Plain of Jars is an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are scattered. These jars are enormous and over 2000 years old. Archaeologists still do not know how to explain their presence

    • On the way, visit several villages in the region to discover the local cultures and lifestyles
    • Return to Phonsavan in the late afternoon

  • Xiengkhuang - Vang Vieng: 200 km - 6h

    Depart to Vang Vieng (6 hours on the road), a scenic route with natural karst formations

    Make a brief stop at the village of Phoukhoune, a commercial crossroads on National Route 13, built during the French protectorate era

    Then, stop at the picturesque Hmong village of Hin Ngon

    The final stop of the day is at Mont Phatang bridge, offering a panoramic view of eroded limestone peaks

    Arrive in Vang Vieng in the late afternoon, check in at the hotel

    Morning visit to the local market

    Depart by car towards Nam Ngum Lake, located 70 km from Vang Vieng. The route offers beautiful nature and scenic panoramas. Cross the lake and explore its tropical islands. Enjoy a traditional Lao-style fish tasting from the lake

    Continue the day heading toward Vientiane, with a stop at the historic site of Vang Xang, an 11th-century location featuring Buddha sculptures carved into the rock

    • Vat Sisaket is the only temple in Vientiane that has not been destroyed by the Siamese in the raid of incendiary 1828

    • A leisurely stroll through the "Morning Market" (covered market) filled with local handicrafts, including gold and silver jewelry
