Itinerary

  • Welcome by the tour guide upon your arrival at the airport, and transfer by private car to the hotel

    In the afternoon, try cyclo for 1 hour to discover:

    • From the colonial district with its charming architecture, to the avenues lined with greenery
    • Hoan Kiem Lake and its legend and Ngoc Son
    • From the maze of streets teeming with small shops in the heart of the famous and fascinating “old quarter of the 36 corporations” and its famous silk street (Hang Gai)

    Depending on your wish, the evening entertainment will be scheduled either on the 1st day of your arrival or on a following day to be chosen with your guide, depending on the timing of the days in Hanoi

  • Hanoi - Duong Lam - Nghia Lo: 200 km - 5h

    Departure early for Nghia Lo through the famous 32 Road, one of the most beautiful roads of Vietnam along the Red River:

    • Along the way, stop at Duong Lam ancient village, which retains most of the characteristics of a typical Vietnamese village: a village gate, banyan trees, a wharf, a communal yard, pagodas, temples, a well, and rice fields. Take a visit to Mong Phu Village built with laterite stone and rammed earth dwellings
    • Have a typical Vietnamese lunch in an ancient house with a local family
    • En route, stop to visit a tea plantation and discover the cultivation techniques and tea making
    • Arrive in Nghia Lo in the afternoon. Visit a local market in Nghia Lo

  • Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai: 80 km - 2h30

    Transfer by road through many beautiful landscapes to Khau Pha Pass where you can admire the beautiful view of Tu Le valley. This valley offers you the breathtaking rice terraces that attract thousands of photographers and artists. The rice terraces are especially amazing in harvesting periods when the whole area is turned into yellow (note: the harvest period is from August to September)

    The road leading to the Nga Ba Kim village is inhabited by Hmong minority and continues through the most beautiful rice terraces, classified as Vietnam national heritage, of the H'mong villages: La Pán Tan, Cu Nha and Ze Xu Phinh

  • Mu Cang Chai - Than Uyen - Lao Cai: 185 km - 5h

    • After having breakfast, we will depart from Mu Cang Chai to Than Uyen, through many beautiful landscapes
    • Stop at the O Quy Ho Pass, known as the longest pass in Vietnam, for some delightful photo opportunities
    • Visit the village inhabited by Thai, who are famous for their traditional stilt house surrounded by rice terraces stretching along the picturesque valleys
    • Trek to the village of Lu minority where you may encounter the villagers while they are weaving their cloth
    • Very pretty scenery on this road which goes up towards Lao Cai

  • Lao Cai - Bac Ha: 75 km - 2h

    Your guide will welcome and transfer you to Bac Ha by private car:

    • Visit the colorful and vibrant Bac Ha Market awaits your presence, where you will meet many ethnicities: Flower H’mong, Black Dao, Tay, Giay, Ha Nhi and Nung
    • Admire the colonial H’mong King Palace that was built by the French a century ago
    • In the afternoon, visit Ban Pho village and meet the Flower H’mong inhabitants
    • Continue to engage with local people and familiarize yourself with your homestay

    • In the morning, departure by car for the village of Ta Van Chu where our day of hiking begins. This village is home to around fifty families of the H’Mong minority ethnic group dressed in colorful costumes
    • On the road, meet Mong women wearing dresses decorated with colorful embroidery
    • After a few hours of walking, we reach a summit which offers us a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding area. Several stops are planned to enjoy the grandiose landscapes

    • After breakfast, we say goodbye to the inhabitants of the village to continue the walk
    • This morning we will cross a small river and a pine forest, a village populated by colorful Phu-La, a village populated by Dao, before arriving at the top of a high hill from where we will have a panoramic view of the region before reaching the Thai Giang Pho village of the Phu La ethnic groups.     • In the afternoon, visit a small hamlet of Dao and a populous village of Phu-La, where we stop to visit their houses and learn about their way of life, before returning to Bac Ha

  • Bac Ha - Ha Giang - Pan Hou: 215 km - 6h

    • Breakfast at the locals’ home
    • Free time to discover the daily life of the ethnic groups in the surrounding area. This allows you to take more beautiful photos
    • Lunch in a local restaurant before leaving Bac Ha to return to Hoang Su Phi. Short stop to fully enjoy the grandiose landscapes. Very good mountain road with panoramic views of the valleys. The landscapes are extraordinary: rice terraces, rivers, mountains, valleys
    • Arrival at Pan Hou village
    • Overnight in hotel

    • Before your day hike have breakfast at the restaurant in Pan Hou village. (If you got up early, enjoy the gardens of the eco lodge designed by its Tay gardeners for a while)
    • You leave with your local guide at 9 a.m. to discover the neighboring mountain by crossing its tropical forests, then its rice terraces
    • After three hours of walking, you stop in a Red Dao village for lunch. Out of necessity, the latter sculpted the mountain and tamed its waterways to cultivate rice, the staple food here too. These difficult adjustments allowed them to live in the heights and, what's more, to offer you unique landscapes to contemplate. The cooler climate and abundance of water also contribute to the growth of lush tea trees

    • After your breakfast with your hosts, you resume your trek through the cassava fields, forests and tea plantations towards the valley
    • After about three hours of walking, you enjoy a lunch break at the village of Nam Nghi, a Dao Rouge village
    • After lunch, you continue your climb up the mountain through the tea plantations towards the summit. You will arrive at the end of the afternoon at the home of a Hmong family with whom you will have dinner and spend the night
