Narathiwat is bordered by Malaysia, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, well known for its large and bustling city of Sungai Golok. This city is the point of communication in the region. There are white sand beaches stretching 2 km just outside the city. The striking landscape in the province is a 24-meter-tall sitting Buddha at Mingmongkhon Thaksin.
